Ainsi, 4 exemplaires ont pu être localisés dans les bibliothèques, ce qui laisse supposer qu’il resterait 21 exemplaires – s’ils ont survécu – dans des mains privées, dans des fonds de bibliothèques dont les fonds ne sont pas consultables en ligne ou non décrits.

La comparaison de la page de titre des exemplaires numéro 19 et 22 révèle un coloriage différent.

Scarce (No.22 of 25 signed and numbered copies] A hand-colored facsimile of the Codex Nuttall, an accordion-fold pre-Columbian document of Mixtec pictography, now in the collection of the British Museum. The Codex is one of about 16 manuscripts from Mexico that are entirely pre-Columbian in origin. Its name is derived from Zelia Nuttall, who first published the Codex for the Peabody Museum in 1902. It is one of three codices that record the genealogies, alliances and conquests of several 11th and 12th century rulers of a small Mixtec city-state in highland Oaxaca, the Tilantongo kingdom, especially under the leadership of the warrior Lord Eight Deer Jaguar Claw (who died in the early twelfth century at the age of fifty-two). A near fine copy in good original quarter-leather two-post binding. Ex-libris Earl Stendahl Galleries, with small taped label of the gallery on the back cover. Covers: Edges and corners rubbed as is top of spine, ½ tear at bottom of spine. Interior is fine except for some light age-toning on title page and some light creasing at several the plate hinges not affecting images. 85 plates, hand-colored on brown paper.”
