Résumé

María Castañeda de la Paz discusses the existence of the so-called Códice X, the close relationship between different manuscripts which conform the corpus de la Tira de la Peregrinación and the several authors like Torquemada, Tezozomoc and Chimalpahin made of them in order to compose their works. In the past, several of these authors have been accused of plagiarism but the authors shows how their procedures were in accordance with the times’ practices. Her contribution for clarifying the authorship of Tezozomoc’s work is of great importance as well as her considerations of the relation-ship between his work and that of Chimalpahin’s, along with the reappraisal of the latter’s work. She presents a thorough and complete analysis on how these three authors used different sources, including both the Códice X and the Crónica X, and made efforts to reconcile the different versions they encountered. Since she knows this is, by no means, a finished project, she invites other colleagues to continue to research the complex world of authors and works from the late XVI and the early XVII centuries.
